A 21 años de la goleada histórica de Olimpia al Pachuca de México

Con hat trick del brasileño Denilson Costa de Oliveira, el Olimpia avanzaba a la final de Concacaf y clasificaba al Mundial de Clubes de la FIFA al golear 4-1 al Pachuca, en partido realizado el 19 enero 2001 en Los Ángeles, California.

Los «albos» dirigidos por Edwin Roberto Pavón (QDDG), clasificaron por primera y única vez al Mundial de Clubes de la FIFA al ganar 4-0 con tres anotaciones del brasileño Costa y otro gol de Alex Pineda Chacón.

El equipo merengue formó esa noche con: Donaldo González, Gerson Vásquez, Arnold Cruz, Robert de Lima y Merlyn Membreño, Samuel Caballero, José Luis Pineda, Alex Pineda Chacón, Danilo Tosello, Christian Santamaría y Denilson Costa. Jugaron además Carlos Páez de Oliveira, Orvin Cabrera y Elmer Marín.
